Yerba Buena: Retrofit and tool installation for 45,000 SF research and development building. Project included installation design for approximately 800 tools.
CDR Server Development Relocation: Develop the Conceptual Design Report to relocate labs (30,000 SF) and manufacturing space (10,000 SF) from Building 28 to Building 50. Scope of services included process piping and mechanical.

Fab 02 Consolidation Project
Fab 02, Rev 2 Tools Installation: Complete design to facilitate relocation/consolidation of Building 006 Fab 2 equipment tools to from existing location in Building 006/067 into the existing Single Slider area located in Building 067. The tool hookup design was developed in close coordination with Hitachi Facilities Engineering and Hitachi Fab Manufacturing to ensure proper, safe, timely and cost effective installation of the tools.

Western Digital, Fremont, CA: Relocation and installation of FEI-04, SDV-08 and FEI-09
Server Room Consolidation
CDA #3 Addition: The existing system consisted of multiple varied size compressors, dryers and other accessories. The project included engineering design for adding 1500 scfm air compressor and associated dryer, tanks and accessories; and connecting them to the existing CDA piping system.
Tool install packages for 12 tools (12 separate projects)
Intel Corporation, California, Arizona, Israel: Design and construction service for upgrades of power distribution system, one substation with tie breaker. Engineering and calculations of power cable, lighting and grounding, life safety and special systems for Buildings C3, C4, C10, C11 and Fab 6 (clean room). Short circuit analysis and breaker coordination study for the engineering department. Migrated control devices for 21 HVAC, VFD/AFD and exhaust fan units from Johnson Control to NCU/NEU FMS system. Designed and developed P&D, controls point to point diagram, controls wiring and riser diagrams. 132,000 SF
Tool hookup/fit-up service for 300 tools for Buildings 1, 2, 3 and 4. Performed feasibility study for new Bldg 5 to add an additional power substation and secondary substations.
160,000 SF expansion of existing facility. The expansion included 31,500 SF Class 1, submicron clean room and associated fab support functions. Responsibilities included programming, conceptual design, contract documents, and construction support.
Retrofit design: 15,000 SF Class 1 area and multiple Class 100 and Class 1,000 areas. 7,000 SF, Class 100 fab process room. Existing 20,000 SF building into research and development and test labs Existing 60,000 SF building to computer data center and test area. Existing 15,000 SF building into computer data center.
Mask Operations: New 40,000 SF addition of multiple Class 1 clean room labs to house mask operations. The project included extremely tight temperature and humidity tolerance. This required an upgrade of the chiller plant, boiler plant and other process utilities.
Master planning, design, and construction services for 1,300,000 SF submicron microelectronics manufacturing facility with Class 1 clean rooms. Responsibilities included feasibility analysis for 75 MW cogeneration plant.
1,260,000 SF greenfield semiconductor manufacturing facility including an 85,000 SF Class 1 clean room and 75,000 SF central utility building; 400,000 SF, four-story office building, 30,000 SF data center; 80,000 SF office/warehouse; and 30,000 SF hazardous material storage building.
Solyndra, Santa Clara and Fremont, CA: As-building installation of 40 tools in Building 1 and 12 tools in Building 2. Scope was to document the installation for submittal to the City and not for construction.
Programming Services: Designed location, layout and square footage for labs within the entire building. The project included space planning (tool location, safety clearances and all Code requirements) within each lab. The project also included specifying power, mechanical and plumbing requirements for approximately 60 tools. Liaison between Solyndra user groups (including the IT group) and construction team.
Novellus, San Jose, CA: Design of 100,000 SF clean room facility with 12 labs used for training purposes. Designed 90,000 SF Class 1 clean room facility including tool fit up and tool hook up. Design of power distribution system. Electrical design engineering and calculations of power cable, lighting and grounding system. Included California Title 24 Energy Code study.
Applied Materials, Japan, Korea, Taiwan: Feasibility analysis for upgrade of 20,000 SF applications laboratory.
Multidisciplinary schematic design services for new applications laboratory.
Design and construction administration services for the life safety systems for new applications laboratory.
VLSI Technology, Inc., San Jose, CA and Tempe, AZ: Design for the addition of thermal oxidizer unit for solvent exhaust abatement from existing semiconductor fab.
Complete design and construction administration services for new 3,600 SF Class 1,000 product development laboratory.
Engineering analysis and criteria development for retrofitting existing energy center to support up to 150,000 SF light manufacturing facility.
National Semiconductor, Santa Clara, CA and Puyallup, WA: Design of retrofit of 14,000 SF conversion of existing fab to copper process fab. Project included upgrading the existing fab to Class 1 clean rooms.
Design for replacing two 45,000 CFM air-handling units for fab in Building E.
Programming for remodel of 14,000 SF wafer fab.
Seagate, Milpitas, CA: Design for retrofit of 5000 SF building for the installation of plating line. The retrofit included adding Class 1000 clean room around the plating line.
IBM, Guadalajara, Mexico: Design of new 17,000 SF chemical storage and distribution disk drive facility, including flammable and general storage of virgin and used chemicals.
Episil, Tai Nan, Taiwan: Electrical engineering design of one 161 KV GIS, transmission substation with multiple 22.8 KV supporting substations for large Episil clean room facility. Design included N+1 redundancy and emergency power requirement.
Motorola, Scottsdale, AZ: Design for the addition of new substation, clean room and motor control center, including lighting, power, special systems design and construction administration for facility system upgrades.
Nikon Precision, Belmont, CA: Complete design and construction administration for new 5,000 SF Class 10,000 product development and testing clean room.
SEEQ Technology, Milpitas, CA: Complete design for retrofit of existing clean room and hookup design for installation of Nikon steppers.

Opsys, Fremon, CA: Design and construction for new 12000 S.F. facility, which consisted of 400 SF of Class 100 optical clean room and several Class 10,000 R&D laboratories. Project included pre-design collaboration with manufacturing engineers from Japan and value engineering the project.
Ciena, Cupertino, CA: Design and construction support for state-of-the-art audiovisual conference room with multi-projection capability and teleconferencing.
Design for converting an existing 9000 SF of warehouse space into offices and 3500 SF cafeteria.
ST Microelectronics, Phoenix, AZ: Design of 2400-ton variable flow chiller plant to replace an existing chiller plant at Building 1100. New chiller plant incorporates energy efficiency features such as variable speed drives, single loop chilled water pumping, and waterside economizers.
Design of 7000 SF Class 1 clean room expansion for the EPI process. Expansion included adding flammable and corrosive gas storage areas.

Good Samaritan Hospital, San Jose, CA: Rad/Fluoro Replacement: mechanical, electrical and plumbing design which included HVAC and piping design, electrical design, and responding to any OSHPD comments.
Surgical Wing Addition: Feasibility study to demolish an existing wing of the hospital and replace it with new surgical wing addition.

O’Connor Hospital, San Jose, CA: Cath Lab Renovation: Replaced existing catheterization equipment with new equipment. Design included evaluating existing HVAC system to confirm that adequate air flows, supply, return and exhaust are being supplied to the different areas; providing medical gases where needed. Connect to existing piping.

Saint Louise Regional Hospital, Gilroy
HVAC for X-Ray Room 1
Replacement Hyperbaric Chamber Conversion: Conversion of existing dining area to accommodate three hyperbaric chambers. The hyperbaric chambers required oxygen gas supply at 90 psig. This required erecting new oxygen line from the existing liquid oxygen tank (upstream of the existing 55 psig regulator) and connecting it to the proposed hyperbaric chambers. The new oxygen line was routed over an existing pipe bridge to the roof and then dropping through the roof to the hyperbaric chambers room. A new sink was installed to replace the existing toilets next to the hyperbaric chambers.

Biotech Projects

Genentech Corporation, South San Francisco, CA: Evaluate AC-1 and AC-2 Units in Building 9: Evaluations of the capacities of existing air conditioning units where the users continued to experience significant temperature fluctuations even after the units were replaced.
Durect Corporation, Cupertino and Vacaville, CA: Labs 145 & 147, Building A: Renovation of lab 145, anteroom 144, and lab 147. Lab 145 and anteroom 144 were upgraded to Class 100,000 clean room (20 air changes per hour). Required modification/addition of existing fan filter units and revisions to existing CDA and nitrogen piping and electrical outlets. Lab 145 was expanded to accommodate additional equipment, including six-foot hood. Electrical scope included outlets to support any new equipment to be added as well as relocation of lights where needed.
Labs 163 and 166, Building A: Renovation which included providing adequate air supply and exhaust for the lab. Required addition of new packaged rooftop air conditioning unit and new exhaust fan on the roof.
Design for renovation of the SAIB, GMP processing facility which allowed the client to meet stringent schedule and budget concerns.
Updates and revisions to Buildings A and B mechanical floor plans and airflow schematics development. This allowed determining available capacities for equipment and which equipment required replacement.
Alza Corporation, Mountain View and Vacaville, CA: Design for renovation of GMP chemical-dispensing building.
Development of air flow diagrams for existing laboratories and the HVAC equipment; analyzed and resolved GMP lab pressurization concerns.
Design solutions for laboratory hood exhaust systems for multiple buildings to resolve hood face velocity concerns.
Design conversion of Building PA-11 chiller plant to primary/secondary pumping to resolve temperature stability within the building which houses multiple GMP labs.
As-built and tenant improvement designs for buildings M3, M4, MP1, MP5 and RC11.
